Thank you for allowing ACS and I the opportunity to teach your child!
Dear Parents,
I am honored to be a member of
the American Community School teaching staff. It is my pleasure to return to
ACS this year. For those of you that are new to ACS this year I look forward to
meeting you and your daughter/son, and for those who already know me I am also
looking forward to seeing you again.
My name is Wafa Ramahi, I am an
Elementary Arabic teacher, and I have a Masters in Curriculum and Teaching
Methods and have been teaching Arabic at ACS for eleven years. I am happy to
return for another great year.
It is my goal to introduce Arabic
in a way that your child will spark interest in reading, writing, and the oral
language. We will read in some manner in every class. Some days I will read out
loud to the class, while other days students will read to each other.
I believe that by all of us
working together we can make this a very successful year. I consider it of
prime importance that you be an active part of your child's education. You are
invited to visit the school any time that you have a question concerning your
child's progress.
Education is a partnership
between the student, teacher, and parent(s). Success in the classroom and for
the teacher can’t occur without the student. I look forward to build the
partnership with your child. You on the other hand have raised your child and
understand her/him in a way I never will, so if there is anything you would
like me to know about your child, now or in the future, I hope you will never
hesitate to contact me by note, phone, or e-mail. Thank you for allowing ACS
and I the opportunity to teach your child.
I consider it a great privilege
and responsibility to be your child's teacher this year, and look forward to
meeting each of you.
Sincerely,
Wafa Ramahi

What a GREAT year!
Dear Parents and Families,
Wow,
what a year! Better yet - what a GREAT year! We have covered a lot of material
and participated in many fun and exciting projects. We started to develop
skills needed for learning the Arabic language. We made many new friends along
the way too.
Each
of your children has brought such joy and happiness to our classroom. I was so
fortunate to have such a wonderful group of children this year. My friends and
family often laugh at me when I refer to your children as “my kids”. They are
like my own children. They all have touched my life and this school year in
very positive and rewarding ways. I hope as the years go by that they keep in
touch. Today’s technology can help us continue the relationships we have built.
I encourage and welcome correspondences from you and your kids.
Students,
I have enjoyed being your teacher this year. It's rewarding when a teacher is
able to get a class full of children who are eager to learn and willing to do
the hard work necessary. You should be proud of the work you accomplished, both
individually and as a class.
"I’m glad
I was your teacher.
I've come to love you so.
I can't believe the end is here.
I hate to see you go."
Remember all the fun we had in all the things we did
But most of all remember...
You're a very special kid!

I
will miss all of you. I wish you the best of luck.
Sincerely,

Read Around the World!
Read Around the World - An ACS Summer Challenge!
Where would you like to spend your summer? The Learning Commons invites all ACS students to participate in this summer’s Read Around the World Challenge! The challenge is to visit as many different parts of the world as you can through books.
To participate in the challenge all you need to do is find a comfortable spot and start reading. After you’ve finished the title, take a photo of the book jacket, of you and the book or simply record it on a piece of paper.
Reading can start the minute school breaks for vacation and will hopefully continue until the day you return to school in August! If you are looking for titles, here are some sites to check out; List One, List Two, List Three. Don’t forget to visit your local bookstore, library or virtual shopping destination.
Once you have returned to school, please bring your list of books to the LC so we can invite you to celebrate with us at an event during the first month back.
Books qualify for this event if they meet any of the following criteria:
- The setting differs from your home country
- The characters are from a different country than your home country
- Non-fiction travel guides or information texts about a country other than your home country
- Biographies highlighting people from different countries
Happy Reading!
